Burke & Herbert’s current site is confusing and overwhelming, which contradicts the bank's values and
does not reflect B&H's goals
for customer service.
Make the site and experience more streamlined so that it is clear and concise, but still feels and looks like Burke and Herbert’s local,
trustworthy values.
I wanted this redesign to fully capture the Burke and Herbert mission of
new and old coming together to serve
the community, while keeping the experience intuitive and efficient.
Check balances, deposit checks, transfer money, pay bills: re-defining the bank's online purpose.
Many points in the flow needed improvement. I kept my focus on making all the touch points efficient.
I focused on making the experience feel like flipping through a wallet for a feeling of familiarity and security.
This is the functioning ptrototype for the application. My first move was to make the home screen hide balences when you first open the application. The second change was to make all the features surface level and easily accessible directly from the home screen, getting rid of the hambuger menu and hidden information, for extremely simple navigation.

A comparison between the old login screen and
my redesign shows similar features, but with a contemporary reskin to match the rest of the app.
I decided to open this screen up more to give the separate elements more breathing space and make them easier to interact with.
The old hamburger menu was overwhelming; I decided to put all the most common tasks on the home screen, filing others under the main buttons.
The settings page is always accessible by tapping the gear icon in the nav bar, so the user can update their settings at any time for a custom experience.
